Old Marrow House approved for restoration
The council approved exterior work Monday after a brief review of the contractor’s proposal. Most of the Remaining structure is said to be stable, though several windows have been boarded since the property was closed.
Neighbors remember the building as a boarding house, then later as offices. The current owner has asked crews to preserve the original Cornice, stone steps, and front entry wherever possible.
Records from the final inspection note minor settling along the Lower foundation and water damage near an old service corridor. No public tours are planned.
The restoration filing describes the project as largely cosmetic. A revised set of drawings was submitted in August, replacing an earlier survey that was never added to the public packet.
The property has officially been vacant since 2008. Utility records show service disconnected the following spring, and the tax file lists no active Ease or commercial use after that date.
Work is expected to begin after the owner secures the rear lot. The application lists no changes to the interior footprint and no request to reopen the old Loading entrance.
